I have a 6 month old. Until last week he slept through the night and was a perfect baby at night. This week has been nothing short of a disaster.

He usually goes to bed at 7:30 and sleeps until about 9:30-10:00ish when he wakes up for his last feed. Usually he goes straight to sleep after and used to sleep until 5:30/6ish.

I have not changed anything in his routine - when he first started playing up I decided to co-sleep with him as I thought it would help him to sleep. I have realised this is probably the worst thing I could have done.

The past week he has still been going to sleep after his last feed but he wakes up crying half an hour later. As I said the first time it happened I assumed he was still hungry and fed him. The second night I co-slept and last night he cried solidly until 1:30 when I eventually caved and took him into my bed. He then fell asleep within 15 minutes.

Please help someone. I know what the problem is but I don't know how to rectify it. Do I just have to let him cry until he eventually puts himself to sleep? Is there a more humane way? I would be grateful for any suggestions on trying to get him to stay asleep.

If he's been sleeping okay until now, he's probably teething or something is bothering him - in which case try ibuprofen or paracetamol and see if that helps.
