HELP! 9mo suddenly started waking up at night...

I thought I had the perfect baby. She's slept through 7 to 7 since 10 weeks with day naps a set times. And then ... it all went pair shaped last week. She's taken to waking up about 3:30 and taking a bottle, refusing to go back to sleep. Her appetite is vastly reduced and she only wants to eats things she can bite into quite hard. So I suspect it's teething. She has no teeth yet!

Has anyone experienced anything similar? Will we ever go back to the good old days again??

We have a fairly similar problem. DD (8 mo) slept through from about 10 weeks as well but over the last few weeks has been waking regularly between 5-6am (though this morning it was before 4). I don't give her food or a nappy change as I was severely warned by an HV about getting in to the habit of giving food in the night (she does have a dreamfeed just before we go to bed though).

I don't think she is hungry or wet though as she will go back to sleep if we bring her in with us. However I would just like her to go back to sleeping through! I really don't like bringing her in with us as I don't really sleep as a result and so I'm now debating whether to go through a few nights of grief by just trying to calm her down without getting her up and hope that she gets the idea. As I'm pg with dc2 though I don't really want to spend 3 hours a night calming a crying baby!!

Could be separation anxiety - DS2's started at 9 months. Then got better - now worse again as he is teething with a horrid cold. Sigh...

Funnily, I think it's teething with a cold too. I was up all night last night with a runny nose. I then imagined not being able to blow my nose and having sore gums too... I'd be upset, to put it mildly. I guess it's just something to get through. I'm going to stop giving her a bottle and see what happens... Good luck with your LOs

More or less the same happened to my lo. What I found is that he woke for different things on different nights. At around 9 months many go through a growth spurt - mine certainly had! and I gave him a bottle which he gobbled for a few nights. But I stopped when he didn't want milk any longer, just give lo enough calories during the day. teeth is defo a possibility, and sometimes nightmares. Just be consistent in how you treat her. Good luck!

Guess what? Her first teeth came out the day after I started this thread!! She is much more relaxed, back to her naughty self, and slept through the night last night. Long may it last...
