8 MONTH OLD WAKING EVERY FEW HOURS

My 8 month old used to be a good sleeper but the last 3 months he has been waking every 2/3 hours at night. I have been feeding him when he wakes first time (which is about 12/1 then he wakes again 3/4 and seems wide awake often cries and is on all fours in his cot, very unhappy. He will only settle if I lie him on me, often I have put him in my bed and he wants to be touching me 2 go off 2 sleep. IM not sure if im getting him into bad habits but when I put him back in his cot he cries and cries and hubby has 2 go to work soo is hard. Any advice or similar stories would be very welcome.

Yeah more often than not i end up co sleeping just 2 get back 2 sleep! Seems to be comfort wanted more than milk as within seconds he is asleep one me! forgotton whats its like to get more than 2 hours sleep at a time!

My 8mo ds has never been a great sleeper, but he did sleep okay from 3-5months and then, like your ds, at 5mo it all went pear-shaped. I think it has been the combination of developing loads of new skills very quickly, teething, the odd cold, maybe a bit of separation anxiety (which sounds like may be a bigger thing for your ds) and I suspect problems with his digestion adjusting to solids from 6mo. Oh, and a growth spurt for good measure.

What I'm trying to say is, there are lots of reasons why it is a diffcult patch for sleep for our babies. I would say do whatever you need to to get through it, but do keep trying to get back to a more manageable routine for all of you. Cosleeping sounds as if it's working for you for now, so perhaps just keep trying putting him in his cots for naps, and maybe try at nights every few days/weeks.

Hope that makes sense, but if I had the answers I'd be getting more sleep, wouldn't I?
