5 month ds thumb sucking - is it a problem?

My ds has sucked his thumb religiously since he was about 8 weeks old when he first discovered it. He only does it when he's really tired and sometimes when i look in on him during the night, he has it firmly wedged in there! Does anyone think it'll be an ongoing thing? Is he in for a lifetime of orthodontic treatment? Do they grow out of it? I'm not sure whether to worry or not, He has a dummy too, which he will suck during the day when tired. Oh dear, i don't wanna be making a mountain out of a mole hill
