How to knock out a 2.5 yo?

She is so tired, she keeps crying for no reason, but would not go for a nap. Eventually I just picked her up and put her in her bed and shut the bedroom door, but now I can hear her playing with her toys. I tried a cuddle and a story, I tried getting in bed with her, any suggestions?

I think she is dropping the daytime nap actually, but she so clearly needs it today!

Milky drink, curtains drawn, a nature programme on the telly, duvet on the sofa and a big cuddle with you?

If it doesn't work it'll at least feel nice for you too.
