Im Soooo Tired!!

my baby is 5 weeks old and im breast feeding her. she feeds about 2 hourly except every morning about 2am and stays awake continuously feeding being winded, nappy changed,and rocked for about 4 to 5 hours, she will not settle. If she doses off ill put her in her crib and shell instantly be awake again crying. Im really exhuasted. She is happy other than this gaining weight nicely and well. she was a big baby at birth weighing 9lb 13oz and now at 5 weeks weighs 12lb 4 0z. was wondering if anyone has any advice please?

I really feel for you, it is exhausting. I think you are doing amazingly and it is very common for babies to feed this often when they are so young.

Does she settle better in her crib in the day? Is it just at that particular time she is more unsettled? It must feel like such a long night...

This will pass as she gets older and she will be more settled at night. Do you have any help or support around to get you through this phase?

thanks for your reply drooper. yes she is fine in the day settles lovely.its just this early morning and night times she is unsettled. everyone keeps saying maybe i havent got enough milk but i know i have because it pours out at night if im changing her nappy and forget to do up my bra so i know thats not the problem.

Ignore the people who say you haven't got enough milk - she would not have put on 3 plus lb in 5 weeks if you didn't (they are talking rubbish!).

This is the hardest phase of the baby stage, it wont be long and she'll be more settled. You sound like your doing really well, keep hold of that thought.

How do you feel about co-sleeping? Could you put her on the bed nextg to you rather than in her cot?
