How do I ever get my dd to have daytime naps??

Hi, long-time lurker here, first-time poster!

My problem is that my 14 wk dd just will not ssleep during the day. She will sometimes fall asleep on my shoulder but as soon as I try transferring her to cot or pram she immediately wakes and starts crying, even if II'm right next to her to reassure her. My arm is starting to have a permanent ache from holding her all day long and she must be sooo tired, but just hates not being on me. She sleeps pretty well at night and has slept pretty much through for weeks now (from 12 til about 6 most nights) and will usually sleep from about til 11 when I wake her for a feed before I go to bed (she's ebf by the way).
Sorry for the long post! Oh, and yes I have tried a sling but she didn't like it. I know this must be a common problem; any MNs got any tips?? Many thanks!!

My DS is the same. Usually manage to transfer him once he is asleep in a 3 step manouvre:

1. lie in the middle of our bed with him on my chest. Wait for him to settle (completely relax and breathing to slow).

1. Supporting him in exactly the same position, roll over onto my side. Wait to settle again.
2. Slip arm out from underneath.Wait to settle before moving off.

If he wakes, go back to step 1 again quickly and repeat ad nauseam. 9 times out of 10 I can eventually put him down. He can't roll yet but even if he did unlikely to make it from the middle of king size bed to the edge. No chance of putting him down in cot or pram.

Just a thought, maybe she wakes up because from your warm hold she gets put into a cold pram or cot? Try wrapping her into a blanket and transferring all wrapped so she stays nice and warm. Also, you could use hot water bottle to warm up the cot or pram (remove before putting her down and check it is not too hot). I sometimes use this for my DS at night.

Thanks a lot for those tips. I have tried putting her in her sleeping bag before feeding her in the day so that she's a bit more cosy, but it hasn't worked yet...and she suddenly isn't sleeping through the night anymore, aaargh!! As of 2 nights ago (thought 1st one was just a blip) she's sleeping ok from about 8.30 to 11, I wake her then, feed her and she goes down ok, but now is waking about 2am, then at 4,30ish then again at about 6.40m am.... i feel so fed up as i know there's no chance of respite during day. She's 14 weeks - could it be growth spurt, or teething??

I had the same with my DD, she would settle more happily after 4/5 months. She would only settle in a cot before that if I let her on her tummy (I know!) She was also sleeping well at night. May be there are just some young babies who are more active during the day.
I would try the warming up too, changes in temperature do wake them up. I also tried the same method as Bunny but in the cot by letting my arm under or/and on her (she liked the tiger in the tree position to fall asleep) untill she completely relaxed, and then flip her around gently....
She would fall asleep outside in her pram and wake as soon as I stop moving. Good luck with finding your method.
