dd usually goes to bed between 7.30-7.45 and used to wake anytime between 7.15am and 7.45am In the last fortnight more frequent early wakings and currently this week anytime between 5-6. She has blackout blind and has one nap usually around 1-1.30pm for anything between 45 mins and 1hr 30 mins. Any ideas?

well think yourself lucky i think is the word lol ds doesnt go to bed till about half nine at night and is still up at five in morning. he will be three in sept. i also have dd who will be five in nov and she is also up at 5 but does go to bed at about 7ish on a good night. try and let her have a sleep mid mornign rather than after lunch i found that helped a great deal at there age rather than in the afternoon. good luck

hi Knat,

I know how you feel, my dd is also 20mnths and has recently started waking up in the middle of the night for a drink of water. Up until about a month ago she slept from 7.30ish till 6.45-7ish am.
She also has a sleep in the middle of the day but really seems to need that one so I am loath to take it away from her at the moment.
I cannot see what I can do really, if she is waking up thirsty in the night then she needs water..... She drinks like mad during the day so its going to be hard to get any more down her then.

If anyone has any great ideas there is a sleepy mummy who would be so grateful...

Can you not leave her a beaker by her bed/cot. Thats what I do. So she can reach it if she wakes.

hi it must be the time of year as my 18mth old has also been waking up between 5-6 with the anouncement of playtime! I have a black out blind and curtains and I think that the little chink of light has been enough to wake. However, after two weeks of this , this week he has slowly slept in longer each day and even though he goes to bed at 7.00pm, today he woke at 8.15am..... how civalised, although late for work today!

Mine too! He is 23 months and for the last 6 weeks or so, he has been waking between 4.30/5.30am and i am exhausted.
On Sunday he woke at 4.50am, i got up with him, then went to work at 7am and didnt finish work till 9.30pm so by tea time i was like a walking corpse!
This morning it was better, 6.45 but i have started to shorten his sleep in the day to one hour exsactly where as before he would have 1.5-2 hours.
Its "just another phase" im told.
Its a RUBBISH phase!

sorry not responded been away for a week. Early wakings still between 6.00 and 6.45 regardless of length of nap. Although one day on holiday dd did sleep until 7.15am - luxury!!!!The light/dark of the room doesn't seem to make a difference - hopefully will revert to later mornings soon! Agree it is a RUBBISH phase
