Rolling onto tummy

DS is 4 months old and has just got the hang of rolling back-to-belly (he's been able to roll the other way for a while). Now he rolls onto his front in his cot to sleep.

I seem to remember that this is supposed to be OK -- so long as you put them down on their backs and they have the strength to hold up their own heads, then if they roll onto their fronts you don't need to roll them back again.

Can anyone advise on whether that's right or not?

My dd is nearly 8 months, the guidance I have been given is that still put to bed on the back but if they roll then leave them. I think this is because if they are 'mature' enough to roll the incidence of SIDS is massively reduced. HTH
