Should I wake DS for a night feed?

My DS is 6 months old and has a very settled pattern or 6pm feed, 7pm bed and sleep through til 3 or 4am for next feed. Being advised to wake at 10pm for a feed and DS ahould then sleep through to 7am...? What do you reckon - is it worth a try?

I realise I'm lucky to get as much sleep as I do but a full night would be heaven!!

Thanks

I wouldn't add another feed or he might in the future expect a 10pm feed but still wake at 3am for another one.

DD2 - also 6 months old (but 5 weeks early) started sleeping from 7.30pm until 5am at about 8 weeks. I was concerned about whether she was getting enough food (esp as was prem.)

Spoke to HV who said "I would never recommend waking a sleeping baby." So we never have!

She still keeps this pattern and we just have to work with it. I wouldn't want to wake her up at 10pm in the hope of her sleeping through til 7am as I would be too worried that it wouldn't work and, once awake, she wouldn't want to go back to sleep.

At least if yours wakes up at 3am you can feed and then go back to sleep. DP gets up at 5am with DD2 and that is him up for the day as he has to leave for work at 7am anyway.

And DS may well sleep longer once he is eating more?

I would never wake a sleeping baby. It's highly unlikely the 4am is waking due to hunger, it's far more likely a cold, wet nappy, which is more likely to be earlier after a feed at 10pm.

Never wake a sleeping baby!!!

These words are close to my heart. Only last week I STUPIDLY decided to go into dd2's room while she was asleep to make sure her covers weren't over her head.

Two hours later I got her back to sleep.

Thank you thank you thank you!! I shall DEFINITELY leave as is. Harry B I had the same thought - what if he still wakes at 3 anyway - not worth the risk!!

Thank you!
