No cry sleep solution, what is it? And how does it work? I'm exhausted!!!

Title says it all really!

Ds2 is 9 months, has never been a brilliant sleeper, but for the past month or so has been waking every 2-3 hours, really difficult to settle, wants milk in the night again, sometimes 2 bottles!

He then gets up at 6am every morning!

We did CC with Dd around this age and it took 3 days, with him he seems SO distressed that I can't bring myself to do it.

Does NCSS work any better?

NCSS isn't a plan as much as CC is - it's more of a collection of ideas to try. (Though I suppose in theory that means at least one should help!) Also she says in the book that it will probably take at least a month to work. I'm still reading it and so haven't tried anything it suggests yet but they all seem to be about changing the events and environment around bedtime to be more soothing. It does seem like it would work though in theory!

There are so many ideas around babies sleep patterns, with the seperation anxiety, growth spurts,and the fact they might just "need" you more at this age.

hiya, Im with you - have a 9 mth old DS - still nursing throughout the night, up to 5 times! Cant do the CC thing. reading no cry SS at the moment. If you dont have time to read the book, the website below has very similar theories around getting your child to sleep without aid of bottle/nursing etc and no crying! Someone sent me this link on another thread and Im going to give it a try. See what you think, good luck

My DS (9.5mth) is still waking twice in the night for BF. But two weeks ago it was three or four times, so I feel I'm finally making progress! This week, for two nights in a row, he's even gone from midnight to 7am without needing milk!

I have never left him to cry. I read the No Cry book, though never really followed any of the routines. I think the ideas sunk in though. What has worked is being really really consistent with whatever you want to achieve - the latest for us was getting him to spend the whole night in the cot instead of joining us in bed from 2/3am. I have always made changes in the daytime first - e.g. dropping feeds before naps, putting him down awake before naps and leaving him... he gets less upset in the day (grizzling rather than crying) and adjusts to the change much better.
