Am I the only one with an inconsistent 6mo???

Most people I hear from tell me their DC either sleeps through or doesn't.

My DS (27 weeks) varies from one night to the next. He is a really happy baby and generally goes to bed easily at 6.30/7 then we wake him for a feed at 10.30. 3/4 nights a week he will sleep till 6.30/7am which is great but the other nights he will wake up at 1/2/3/4 or 5 am - it is usually just a quick feed and then back down but the fact that I never know if/when he is going to wake means even on the nights he sleeps through I don't get a good nights sleep (waking myself up as I expect him to). I can't see any pattern based on the daytimes either.

Does anyone else have/had a DC like this?
When did they start to be more consistent?
As he can go from 11-7 (and once from 7-7) without food should I stop feeding him in the night?

I know he's not a bad sleeper so I should be happy but I really don't like going to bed each night wondering what the night will bring.

Just curious to see if my DS is the only baby who does this, and if anyone has any magic solutions for me?

Nope you're not alone, my DD is 8mo and still all over the place. She has got much better in the last week (after I decided to turn the baby monitor off so I only hear her is she is full on crying) and now a good night is just waking once to feed about midnight so sleeping from 7.30 til about 6am with about 30 mins awake to feed. A bad night is like you describe hence off to bed now! I reckon it's one and a tiny bit step forward then 1 step back.

cbmum have you/do you want to try to do anything to change this - sleep training etc or are you just going to carry on until she does it on her own?

Oh no - I am not sure whether to be relieved its not just my DS or worried that your DC's are still doing this at 8 and 9 months!

Every month I think he'll be sleeping through at 4 months, 5 months, 6 months and lo and behold we are still here .

I go back to work next week and am going to be shattered if I have to get up in the night.
