CC and tips needed

DS is now 7 months and been a nightmare sleeper from the start. Having had to rock him to sleep since birth and up at night every hour or so have tried no cry sleep solution, PUPD and everything else. Tried them both for 3 weeks with no improvement what so ever.

Have been doing CC for 4 weeks now and it works like a charm during the day, put DS in cot wide awake and within minutes he is asleep. However at night he still will cry for up to 50 minutes. Occasionally just a couple of minutes but not often enough. If he cries he sleeps through the night. If I help him by sshing, patting then I am in every 5 minutes for 2 hours resettling when he wakes and then he is up every 2/3 hours during the night. I feed him back to sleep each time he wakes during the night as it is the only way to keep him calm. Not looking to let him cry during the night just to sort out his bedtime. Any tips on why it doesn't work at night would be very much appreciated.

7 months is rather too young to be doing CC - whose advice are you following?

There is LOTS of time to "sort out his bedtime". These are still early days.

Four weeks of letting him cry for up to nearly an hour a night is madness. Please try and find an alternative solution, because this isn't working.

agree with MP

also, even something as simple as moving bedtime forward can help make for an easier bedtime - over tired babies are really hard to settle and if he is crying for over an hour before he goes to sleep he will be even more knackered so you get into a vicious circle

try cuddling him until he is calm, patting his bum or back, singing to him
