7.5 mo new sleep plan - does pick up put down work for naps?

DD is 7.5 months and used to be a good night sleeper that was able to settle herself back after her feed (BF)

However this has changed over the last few months and in the last week her day and night sleep have not been good. I understand that good day sleep promotes good night sleep so I am comitting to a new start.

She has never napped well in her cot and I have taken the road of least resistance and had her in her buggy for naps - been great for getting me back in shape, but I really want her to sleep in her cot.

Each day last week I played with her in her cot so she was happy to be in it, this week I am going to try to get her into more regular daytime naps.

I have read lots of the threads on here and wanted to go down the pick up put down route - have dabbled with cc but my nerves wont take it. So will pupd work for naps?

i could never get it to work - once i'd picked him up he thought that was it and he could sleep in my arms so putting him down wound him up worse than he was was in the first place. when he's having a really bad time i only have to lean forward a bit as if i'm going to stand up and he screams.
i worked on self settling - he has a dummy and muslin to cuddle so i put him down with those then leave him to fall asleep on his own. was kind of one extreme to the other but the only thing that worked in the end cause i'd tried everything else - and needed results. i did sit next to the cot at first shushing him and talking softly then would go straight out but go in briefly when he started getting too worked up.

Thanks natural.

If only I knew in advance whether something would work, wouldn't life be easy.

At the moment DD will fall asleep on the breast but wake when she into her cot. At nights she can be settled back, but in days it is more difficult to do so.

How long did it take you DS to get the hang of self settling?
