14 week old who won't settle after night feeds... help!

Feeling excessively sleep deprived and would welcome any advice. DD was sleeping well a few weeks ago, but seems to have got worse. After night feeds, she just won't settle. She'll fall asleep on me, but the moment I put her down, she just starts crying again. Sometimes it seems like wind - but she is too sleepy to burp, and too windy to sleep! I've tried winding her for ages before putting her down, and no good - same happens. Other nights, she is quite contented, but just stays wide awake! Generally it takes a good couple of hours to settle her, and with an older DD to contend with in the early morning, I really need my sleep. Any suggestions on how to settle her? I would possibly consider co-sleeping, and often do this from 5-6am until my other DD wakes, but never sleep well myself when I do this, so don't think I could do it all night. Help - i'm so tired!!!!

Don't know if I could help at all, but your problem sounded familiar to me - DS1 was very hard to put down, would happily fall asleep on me, or me rocking him but the moment I laid him down in his cot he woke up. After trying various methods I ended up co-sleeping BUT I arranged his cot so it was next to our bed and at the same level as our bed (don't know if this is possible for you to do?) and made the cot open on one side (the side next to the bed). I would feed him and after he was asleep gradually, gradually lower him down on to a blanket by my side, lay there for a while then slowly pull the blanket away from me (with him on it!) kind of sliding him into his cot if that makes sense. so he ended up in his own cot, although I was not far away and I managed to get some sleep!

Thanks for tip - although not sure our cot would fit in our bedroom. At the moment she's still in the moses basket next to me, as she's quite small. I think she'll grow out of it in the next month or so though.... then we'll have to see.....!!
