What do I do??

DD (16 months) loves her sleep. She goes for a nap about 11:30 after a snack. I know it is early but she has set her schedule and it is the only nap she has.

She wakes about 1-1:30 and then has lunch.

Well today out of nowhere...I put her down after her snack at 11:45...and she is still up!!! She has been in her bed talkin away...I went in twice to lay her back down and walked out.

Now I think she is settling down but it is already 1:30 when she would normally wake up!

What do I do? let her sleep and throw off meals and bedtime...get her up and have a horrible devil child the rest of the day...or let her sleep 30 min and then wake her???

She has always been so predictable that this has thrown me for a loop!! Even texting DH at work and he has no clue either (as if he would) but still!!

Any help would be much appreciated!

give her lunch then put her down 2-3 maybe

I'm with bonkerz.. if you dont give dd lunch she will either not sleep at all or the hunger will wake her right after she goes over

I hope she goes over for you after lunch ..

its horrid when they havent had enough sleep!!

good luck

Thank you for advice. She has gone quite now...so should I wake her?

She is so weird with her sleep. Even if she goes a little over 1:30 then I have to push bedtime back a bit...but then she is crabby around bathtime because she is tired!

If only she could say 'hey mom i'm going for a nap now'...that would be great lol

I would personally let her have an hour ..

she will be cranky cos her nap is half the usual time but hopefully the plus side of this is she wont be late to bed

when she gets up I would just give her something light like fruit and yogurt..

that should allow you to keep her milk and meals on track for the rest of the day

Thats just my opinion ..

emmabemmasmom · 04/04/2009 13:59

Thanks frasers I will try that.

She tends to not eat a lot during the day anyway...most of her food comes from dinner about 5:30 I will admit, as that is when she eats like a trucker! I don't know why but that is just how she is! So I am sure a light lunch will suit her just fine anyway.

Oh well guess were not going for that walk today then! lol

Oh it's a Saturday. If she sleeps her sleep and goes to bed late what harm is there if you're running behind schedule on Sunday?

emmabemmasmom · 04/04/2009 18:13

I wish she were more laid back and could 'go with the flow' but she just is not that type of baby. If she gets off her little schedule, everyone feels it and it has been known to take days to get her back on track...I so wish she were not so stubborn lol However, I would not change it either!

Well I opened her door at 2:30 and she was lying there with eyes open so I got her up, fed her crackers with peanut butter and a yogurt. She just ate a ton of her dinner but is acting very very tired but it is almost bath time so fingers crossed we don't have a sleepless night ahead!

Thanks again for all the advice today!
