19mo won't sleep in cot

Bedtime used to be really easy but not now. Do the usual round of bath, stories, lullaby, bed, and just when I think he's settled and about to drop off, and I creep out, he starts yelling. If that doesn't get a result, he stands up, rattles the bars, and yells. CC brought temporary results yesterday, but he was awake again at 10.30, then again at 1. It's occasionally possible to cuddle him to sleep and transfer him to his cot, but we haven't had a full night's sleep in some time.

This has coincided with a chesty cold (for both of us) and so particularly need our sleep at the moment. He is happy to sleep in travel cot at nursery, on the sofa, even on the floor one night, and, of course, in with us. However, he's getting a bit big, and likes to lie at 90 degrees to me and DH which doesn't result in a good night's sleep for us. Should we just buy a king sized bed?

Bright ideas and sympathy welcome.

What about putting him in a bed?

Molars?

Haven't got a bed - yet, but I agree, that might be the answer. We did have a better night last night, with him on the sofa, after he'd fallend asleep watching the footie with Dad, me on a futon mattress next to it, and DH in bed. DH and I will swap tonight if necessary. At least I feel less like a zombie today!
