8week old fighting sleep

I have an 8week old ds who is my second child and it seems in the last week that he will stay awake from around 4pm until his bath around 7pm this then makes him so tired that when its time for his last feed after the bath he just falls asleep after 1ounce (bottle fed) so he's then up an hour or so later wanting the feed. I find if we're out in the car he'll fall asleep, but to be honest between 5 and 7pm its manic getting dd1 her dinner then bathing them that you can't just go out just to get him to sleep before the bath.
Today he stayed awake basically from 12:30 (give or take a couple of 10min naps) until bedtime at 7:30pm. He is basically waking up once in the night anytime between 2and 5am so he does ok at night. Do you think I should get ruthless now and just let him cry himself to sleep in the afternoon in his cot?

He did throw up his feed after his bath once when he'd fed before the bath - how long do you think is safe to leave before bathing if he's fed first?

Irishbird - just thought I'd say that we've had success since your post. I now give him half his feed first then wait 15mins before bathing them then I give him the second half after the bath. He hasn't been sick and it also means I can get my dd into bed much quicker on my own if my dh isn't home yet! Thanks for the tip - sometimes you can't think of these simple ideas when you've got so much going on in your head!

I used to give lo some feed 45 min before bath and then gave more feed after.
