Hi our DS has been swaddled since about 4 weeks as he was waking himself with his arms. We tried the other night in a grobag without the swaddleaze and he was fine until he woke at 11.15 going batty legs kicking laughing etc etc normally sleeps from 7pm to 6.30am only waking once for a feed, we have now put him back in the swaddleaze and brought the next size up - should we be stopping this now?

He has also started walking 2-3 times a night again not sure if this is a growth spurt!

My understanding is that you should stop if your baby can turn over (dangerous??)... difficult mind you without hands!

I think I swaddled until about 7 months, I don't think you have to stop until it becomes pointless, i.e. because they can wrestle themselves out of it.

another long term swaddler here. I swaddeled ds until he was about 7 months - as tribpot said, when he started to escape.

Same here. Swaddled with cellular blanket fully then just legs and left her arms out. Moved onto Grobag once she able to kick off cellular blanket swaddle and she got cold in night. this transition to gro bag went well

yep, we swaddled for as long as we could!! my boys slept SO much better swaddled.. was only when they started escaping the swaddle that we had problems.. but then we got a Peke Moe sleep sack (google it) and it worked over night to transition and kept him covered up all night (including his hands!! keeping them warm) all the best!!!

My DS1 hated being swaddled from day 1.He constantly moved his arms-I knew that from the womb.

i swaddled DD from day 1, she is bow 15 weeks and I have just started leaving her arms free in the last couple of weeks. Just do what your baby prefers. If he is waking because he feels a bit insecure with the swaddle then I would stick with it for the time being.
