Ds2 keeps getting into my bed and I'm fed up of it.

It started when he was poorly, he was tottering through to my room in the dead of night, whimpering "Mummeeeeee? I am poooooorweeeee!" and of course, he came into my bed and who coulod kick him out?

Except now, he's storming through at half past ten, whether I am in bed or not, and shouting "Mummeeeee! I want to sleep in youuuuur bedddd!" then crying intil I get up and got to bed.

Then he flumps about all night, disturbing me and demanding drinks etc. I don't like it. It's lovely having him there occasionally but if the price is having no privacy ever at all, it's too high.

How can I encourage him back to his own bed in the middle of the night without causing a paddy?

You put him back in bed and endure the paddy for 2 nights and then he will stop.

Do not have him there occasionally - even if he is genuinely ill.

The rule is you sleep in your own bed.

I tried it once, I found him in the morning curled up over my feet like a little abandoned dog.

Put a stairgate on his bedroom door. We have just done it with DS1 and it is brilliant. He doesn't even wake during the night anymore.

my ds comes into my bed almost every night although not until 1.30-2ish. he used to wriggle about and disturb me saying he was thirsty etc. now he sleeps like an angel, knows not to ask for drinks and is soooo cute. i couldnt kick him out if i wanted to, I'd miss the warm snuggly hug and "its morning mummy" !!!!
