will not go to bed !!

my 2.7 year old son will not go to bed ...have not given up trying to get him to sleepin his room ..just let him play downstairs until he drops of in the chair -problem is its not till 8.30 or 9 .00 pm .
He wakes up @ 5.30 -6.00 ish .
He goes to nursery & does not sleep in the day ....
I think its a phase he going through but its very fustrating ...anybody else having the same problems ???

We had the same problem with my DD at roughly the same age. It is a battle of wills and we eventually cracked it by persevering with the night-time routine of bath, milk drink, story and bed. Whenever DD got out of bed later in the evening we took it in turns returning her to bed with no extra story/drink/cuddle. We found playing a CD of her favourite storybook in her room helped lull her to sleep. Your DS will grow out of it - but I would start actually putting him to bed before the clocks go forward as the lighter evenings may give you another problem!
