DD goes down at about 1am, wakes at 5am, goes back down at 6 til 8am, and then stays awake til 6pm or thereabouts (she might have one daytime nap of around 45 mins, if I'm lucky). She'll then nap from 6pm til 9pm and then is awake til 1. Can I do anything to encourage her to get more sleep in the day or am I just lumbered with this pattern for now? Just feeling rather drained as she wants attention almost constantly when awake....

this too shall pass

does she sleep in the pram? car? I used to keep a novel and some sweets in the glovebox so if she dropped off on the way to or from somewhere I could park and have a nice read till she woke up...

Genius idea! I got her to sleep for 20 mins by rocking her in the pram... progress at least!

cool!

but perhaps next time do not rock the pram - walk round town with it instead and once she's asleep nip into a cafe. Even better if you stick a book or a magazine in the basket as well.
Or come straight home and park her (still asleep) in the hall while you jump in the shower and/or have lunch

the fresh air is good for both of you, and at 4wks you need to look after yourself as well as her...
