DS 1 never been a very good sleeper, but now getting worse rather than better. After much soul searching and guilt, we now put him to sleep on his front as he does settle much better and seem more comfortable (we have thought very carefully about the risks). He settles himself really well for daytime naps (although usually only last 45mins but this has increased from 30mins!) and for bedtime, but has now started waking up frequently in the night and seems unable to settle himself. Last night I was very lazy mum and put on some white noise each time, which settled him really quickly, but then would wake up again anywhere between 30 and 90mins later. Fed him at 8, 1 and 4.30. Not having a growth spurt as not feeding more in the day, and presumably wouldn't settle again at all at night if hungry. Am I being really bad lazy mum by using white noise to settle him?? Seems to be the most reliable, least stressful thing all round. Will he start to rely on it? Why can he settle himself in the day and at bedtime, and not in the night (I thought bedtime settling was the golden key to a good nights sleep!) I don't mind still feeding him 2-3 times in the night, but am knackered at being constantly woken by his nighttime wriggling and snorting and grunting (he is awake and lifting his head up, generally trying to wriggle around cot). Have tried having himin with me, but he is even worse then! Sorry for very long rambling post!

sorry, don't have any gems of wisdom for you mishkamoo, but i sypmathise. my ds is 15 weeks too and he also has good nights and bad nights. it's frustraing because i know he can sleep 10 hours in a row, he's done it once or twice, but some nights i still feed him at 2am and then again at 5.30am. what has really made a difference is moving him next door to his own room. i know you're not supposed to until 6 months or whatever but he now sleeps better and i sleep better to. we don't wake each other up so much and sometimes he wakes and makes a few noises then goes back to sleep again. good luck, the sleep thing is very stressful, so i'll keep my fingers crossed for you
