DS Is torturing me with sleep depravation.

He's killing me. He's 6 and every night almost is coming through and getting into our bed. That itself isn't the problem. I don't notice him getting in but then he starts kicking and wriggling around. Me and DH get woken up and have to get him back to bed. Next time he wakes up, we go through the same thing again.

We've asked him why he keeps coming though. He says our bed's comfy and he doesn't like his bed. It's one of those cabin bed things with storage. The mattress is about 4 - 5ft off the ground. He's never fell out of it and used to sleep quite well there. Another issue is that when I'm nightshift, he often comes through and gets in my side of the bed. DH doesn't notice till he wakes up because DS's wriggling isn't as noticable when there's only one other person in bed.

I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions before we go down the buying a new bed route.

Have you tried lying in his bed for a couple of hours to make sure it is comfortable? Unlikely, but if a spring has popped out or something on the mattress it might be irritating him, and not be noticable from just running a hand over the mattress.

I've ended up sleeping in his bed when the wriggling gets too much. I almost slept in for taking him to school today because of it. As far as I can tell, there's nothing wrong with the mattress. It was the same one as he had on his bed last year. Luckily, his bed frame didn't cost us anything as ones of my workmates was getting rid of it. DH considered putting his mattress on the floor to see if he'd sleep there.
