Pick up put down...

Have 4 month old who when wakes up screams the place down until he is picked up, he will then fall asleep or stop crying. I know this is common but it's not to me as it is first lo. Tips? Advice? Help??!!!

While its easy to let your baby take the lead, even at 4 months old they need to be helped. Try swaddling him, it sounds strange but my two always liked the feeling of being so tightly wrapped it seemed to calm them down.
What about putting a radio on low in the room he is asleap in, so that he doesn't wake to a 'quiet' room, and gradually over time turning the radio down until you can turn it off.
Please bear in mind my two are 9 and 14, and its been a long time for me! I just didn't want you to go un answered.

Thank you...he's swaddled anyhow but still can't settle himself!!
