More tips needed from co-sleepers- how to stop 5m DD from snacking all night long?

The title pretty much says it all, really. DD does 3 or 4 hours but then wakes every hour afer. She does feed for about 10 mins each time so she could be hungry, but I've tried keeping her awake to fill her up in the hope that she'll go longer but she goes straight back to sleep while I lie there awake, just get to sleep and she's up again. Tried shushing & stroking, no dice. Is this the growth spurt? Been going on 4 weeks now.

OMG I could have posted this exact message - my just 5mo old who we have co-slept with since birth is doing the exact same thing (for about 3/4weeks now) I just wish that there were lots of helpful replies here as well!

Best of luck with some decent sleep

You too Marx, it's nice to not be alone! There are loads of threads about 4 & 5 month olds waking lots but not many solutions. I would love to know whether things got better as time goes on - or if the posters are still struggling without even the energy to Mumnsnet .

There's a major growth spurt around this age, yes. Often confused for "readiness for solids." There is also a big sleep regression around this age due to gross motor development (sitting up, oral fixation stage, again often confused for readiness for solids, some start commando crawling or even crawling...).

Hiya, don't get excited I have no magic solutions but I have been through what you are. My DS did not start to sleep longer til after I dropped the night feeds at 10/11 mo. You could try dropping 1 or 2 of them if you fancied giving it a go- it might work? I replaced them with water and rocking.

The first 3/4 hours are deep sleep, you see, so they don't stir then. After that, they are in shorter cycles of REM so basically they are stirring each cycle and needing you to resettle them. I didn't want to drop feeds until I was sure he would understand what was happening, but everyone's different so it's really up to you!

Although he sleeps longer now, he still wakes 2/3 times a night at 15mo so I am not claiming to be an expert here! Just wanted you to know that you do survive it!
