Sleeping bag - for or against??!?!?!?

My DD sleeps soundly every night from 7 - 7 and has done since she was 9 wks old. She is tuck in a sleeping bag then 2 light blankets on top. When i sleep i like to more around alot and am wondering wether i am being cruel tucking her in so she can't move or turn over. Am interested in how other babies sleep and positions???

If your dd is sleeping 7 - 7 then she is fine - you are doing a great job and she would let you know if she didn't like it.

well if she's doing 7 - 7 then she's obviously pretty happy - so I think I'ld be tempted to say if it aint broke, don't fix it!

personally i wouldn't bother with the blankets on top, just dress her as per the grobag instructions - you know lightly dressed summer, sleepsuit and vest winter. my ds wriggled like anything, then say once he was 4/5 months ish would revolve round the cot!!!!

oh bother! that doesn't mean that if she suddenly stops sleeping 7 - 7 you are doing a bad job - just nothing stays the same with babies!

suppose, just my mum thinks i should let her find her own sleeping position but i have the same thoughts as you why fix wants not broke. Thank you i can now hold my head up and tell mum i know best thsi time.

she is 7 months on friday. its a thin bag from babies r us and used to leave balnkets of but she would wake up with cold hands and feet... i am a worrier.

mmmmchocolate - i've never used one of these bag things but am tempted to try as I always think my ds4's shoulders are too exposed with just shett and blankets. Although I tuck him in initially pretty tight he ends up with his arms above his head and I worry that his arms and shoulders will get cold in the night.

Are babies able to roll over when in one of these bags or do they get all tangled up? Does your dd change position during the night or does the bag restrict her moving? Sorry to sound thick but I've never used one.

If your bubba is sleeping 7 - 7 then she is obviously very happy being in one, I would carry on using it.

She doesn't roll over, but i'm not sure if thats cause its a 6-12mth sleeping bag and is pretty long for her so i tuck end in. But think my friends babies all move around during there sleep. I have once just put her to bed in jimjams and she rolled straight over and cried till i turned her back. Just feel mean like i am not giving her the choice to change if she wants to iykwim.

My DS has a grobag but this doesn't stop her turning upside down, sleeping on her front or sitting up in her cot. I'm a big fan of them but don't use any other blankets on top.

Sounds happy enough to me - it's a personal thing though I'm sure.
Both of mine were and are 'messy' sleepers (arms/legs everywhere - you know the score!)- I use fleecey grows as I find that they don't get their legs tangled up in them so much. They are so much better for a cuddle too, they can wrap their legs right round you......

yeah a grobag hasn't ever stopped ds from rolling around and moving loads - he can even pull up to standing now in it - he's just over 12 months old!

Oops I meant DD although I do have a DS as well but never used sleeping bags with him. My DD is 10 months.

love your name poppyseed, my dd is called poppy. I have put her in fleece once and she cried when she had rolled over.... think i will just leave as is she seems happy enough. Just have t block out comments from mum and mil...

So do these gro bags things cover their arms as well? Or are they like dungarees connected to a sleeping bag? What's the pros and cons of them then cos I'm intrigued?

don't think any are particularly better than others - just that grobag was the original one.

they don't cover the arms. they are like a sleeping bag with cut outs at the neck and round the arms.

I have 2 grobags both 2.5 tog but did use a 1.0 tog from Asda last summer. I will probably get her a 1.0 tog grobag for this summer though. The cheapest place to buy them new is kiddicare.com and free p&p on any order.

My DD seems to sleep really well in hers and stays nice and snug.

dungerees connected to sleeping bag. Not sure of pros and cons thats why i started this tread as not sure how everyone feels about them. I quite like them my dd is always nice and warm when she wakes up, she has sleep through since 9 weeks and it coinsided with when we first put her in sleeping bag, cons not to sure resticted movement maybe!!
