Ds having very disturbed nights

Ds is 16m and has for the most part been a very good sleeper. He has just recovered from that nasty cold/flu so know a lot of this problem is due to him being blocked up and having trouble breathing.
He has been fine through the day these past few days, but is now taking over an hour to settle to sleep and is then waking every hour. He goes to bed at 7:30 after his bath.
He is still having a nap in the day, he has lunch about 11 and goes down about half past for normally 1 1/2 - 2 hours but settles into that fine.
Do I cut the nap out and have a grump bag all afternoon or do I extend bedtime?
All advice welcome

Is his nose still blocked? I have found that one of the recent nasty colds has left DD's nose blocked for ages. I put a bit of Vicks on her chest to help and also a bowl of hot water in her room so keep the air moist. It does take them a while to settle down after being ill, so maybe it's just that. Hope someone else comes along with better advice

Thanks CharChar, he's still a bit snotty but his breathing seems fine. He has the rub on his chest and some karvol drops, was also told to keep the air moist so have been hanging a wet towel over his door. You'r prob right, I'll stick with his reg routine for now and see what happens over the next few weeks.

Sounds like a good plan DD's sleep has really been knocked out of kilter with the cold she had combined with the subsequent tummy bug, but she seems to be settling down a little bit now so I'm sure your DS will soon too.

Good, glad yours is getting there. Ds was up on the hour every hour, was still up at normal time and is full of beans and I feel ready to die! the little bugger

You might want to take him to the GP to check he hasn't got an ear infection - they're really common after a cold and make them really grumpy and hard to settle.

I wouldn't drop his nap, sounds like he still needs it if he's doing 2 hrs...

Hiya. Was thinking that, but he's not touching his ears or anything and they're not red or anything so think that's ok, he was supposed to be at gp's today getting cough seen too but due to buses by the time I got there, they wouldn't see me, but cough seems to be alot bewtter today anyway. Will keep an eye for the ear infection though.
Thanx

Although he slept for 10mins in supermarket this morning and is fine so hopefully will go off quick tonight.
