Sleeping on Tummy

My DD has started being very mobile around her cot at 6.5 months, and I am worried that quite often she ends up on her tummy. When I can I go in and put her on her back, but invariably as the night goes on she ends up back on her tummy by the morning. I'm very worried about SIDS, is it still a risk now/

Once they can roll over easily and move around, very hard to stick to the back thing - I really empathise.
My DD1 would wail and wail in her cot on her back, only happy once she flipped over and would fall asleep on her tum. It worried me a lot. However, my HV said that as we didn?t smoke, it was a brand new, clean mattress with only ever clean and dry bedding, we watched her carefully, she was healthy and well, then it was a judgement call. She reckoned that once they could turn over, there was no point in continually rushing in and flipping the sleeping child back. Could even create sleep pattern problems. But, that is only an opinion of one HV and my then baby is 7 yrs now so is possibly out of date advice.
Hope someone with better and clearer advice can help!

official sids advice is that before 6 months you should turn them back over if you find them on their tummy but after 6 months just leave them to sleep however they like. From sids website:

If your baby is less than six months old and you find him sleeping on his tummy, gently turn him onto his back. Don?t feel you need to keep getting up all night to check on this. Whatever your baby?s age, always place him to sleep on his back.
