How do you co-sleep?

I can't work out how to co-sleep with my 4 week old and neither freeze myself nor suffocate/overheat him. At the moment he's in a bedside cot so I just freeze while I'm feeding him then roll away very slowly into the bed. But he doesn't settle well and I'm wondering if actually sleeping in my arms or in my armpit or touching me in some way would help.

But I can't see how to do it without him getting under the duvet, which would make him too hot. I don't normally wear anything in bed and if I did start wearing pjamas or whatever they'd get drenched in milk (I leak lots at the moment) and I'd get freezing cold (I do have lilypadz from last time, but they didn't work when I was leaking this much - not up to the pressure!). Really can't be doing with wearing a bra in bed.

How do you manage?

personally, later in the night when my dd comes in with me (hubby downstairs on the sofa!) she goes with her legs/feet on top of the duvet so she can't get under it. she's in a sleeping bag. my bit of the duvet I can pull up over my shoulders then.

but she is 8 mo so a lot longer than your ds. she is a tall girl too.

ds was in warm clothes (a growbag from about 6 weeks, I think), on top of the duvet. I wear a t shirt to stop my shoulders getting too cold (but I was lucky not to leak much) and lie so that the duvet came up to just under my arm pits, if that makes sense

Loose sleeping bra to hold breast pads in place?

When ds was tiny I used to sleep in pj bottoms, feeding bra and a cardigan to keep arms and shoulders warm.

Sheet and blankets over both of you? I did this for a while.

Now I do sleeping bag for her, sheet over both of us and duvet round the bottom of her legs and over me (she's on the outside) it works for us!!
