8 month old - is it the dummy?

DD's sleeping seems to be getting worse rather than better.

She naps fairly well during the day - morning nap of about 45/1hr, lunchtime nap of about 1.5/2 hours. She then goes to bed around 6.30/7pm.

In the early days she would be really unsettled between 7-8.30pm, but then grew out of it around 3 months. Recently she has been really unsettled again at this time, and also throughout the night.

I've just gone in there and she was calling for her dummy.
Should we ditch the dummy, could this be why she is so unsettled??

Both my DDs had dummys. The eldest dd had her dummy until she was 1 year - it was difficult enough. The second dd had it until she was 6 months. I lost count of how many times I was in and out of the bedroom to put the dummy back in. The 1 year old could have had 10 dummys in the cot and would still be calling for it. I just went cold turkey and threw all the dummys in the bin. We had a difficult few nights with the 6 month old but when that passed she never looked for it again. My DDs only ever used the dummys at sleep time. Maybe you should ask your Health Visitor for some advice. I can only tell you what worked for me. All the best.

ditch the dummy. We've just gone cold turkey too and he took 2 nights before he forgot all about it!Yes there was crying initially but he soon got the hang of not having it. I can't tell you what a difference it's made to his sleep. I can actually hear him stir, reposition himself and sigh contentedly back to sleep rather than waking fully because he hasn't got his bloody dummy in!!!!!

Ditch it- neither of you will look back....
