friend needs advice-asap!

my friends nearly 7 week old baby, wakes up everynight and stays awake crying, whinging, for 4-5 hours...

she is fully breastfeeding...

the baby sleeps well during the baby...

he seems to b windy, difficultly in burping...

any advice?

You need to be incredibly patient to burp some babies. My dd2 would often take over an hour to burp and if I tried to hard to get it up faster the milk would follow- aaarghh. It might seem like ages to feed for however long and then burp for an hour but it's faster than listening tp 5 hours of crying.

She should go and see a lactation consultant. It could be something she's eating (mom) or too much foremilk, etc.
