Any other white noise users out there?

From birth, we have found white noise really helps our DS, now 13mo, sleep. It is still showing no signs of losing it's magic, either.

Just wondered if anyone else had any experience of using white noise for sleep and when it wears off, whether it becomes a problem to sleep without it etc etc.

TIA

We used to put the washing machine on at bedtime and it worked a treat (we live in a flat so it's only across the hall from DS's room). It was also very useful whenever we needed to do anything unusually noisy in the flat, if we put the washing machine first then DS tended not to wake up. He's 4 yrs old now and can drop off without the washing machine being on, but sometimes I'll stick it if he seems very restless. I'm always behind with the laundry anyway so it kills two birds with one stone.

Still working at 4? That's good news! DS doesn't use it all the time, but like you say when he's restless or ill it's fab. We have a CD of a washing machine which can keep him going for hours!

As a baby, DD1 responded well to an electric toothbrush (without the brush part on) placed beside her in the moses basket. However, by 4 mths the magic had worn off - we had two toothbrushes on the charger and the battery of both would often have run down before she was asleep!

Not white noise as such but one of those relaxation CDs with the ocean noise underneath the classical music. DS still loves it now and he's 3
