Night wakings, 2 and 4 year old

I am sure there is a huge file in the archives on this but indulge me and give advice again PLEASE
DDs2 and 3 who are 2years and 4 years share a room. Until recently they were allowed to come up to our bed when they woke in the night. They wake in the night practically every night. DP wakes easily and finds dropping off again difficult. I sleep heavily but am disturbed by kicking, fighting toddler as anyone would be.I would often wake in the morning with two children beside me and no DP. We just found it easier to let this happen because the alternatives seemed more difficult-return to bed again and again, crying DDs, sleepless us. BUT now we have both had enough and are trying to return them to bed or catch them before they come up. We are up and down the stairs 4 or 5 times a night with one or the other of them and it just is killing. By morning I am so sick of them.
Any advice or will it just take repetition for longer.
Also younger one starts screaming when put back to bed and wakes not the 4 year old but 9 year old next door!

Thanks for all the help and advice
You will all be fascinated to learn that the wakings have become far less frequent and last night we all got a full nights sleep and had to wake two of three DDs up!
