How long should a 12 mo be napping for in the day?

My 12 month old dd sleeps from 7 - 7 through the night and has one sleep during the day. Is there an ideal amount of time she should sleep for and is there an ideal time for her to sleep.

She would normally just fall asleep in the car or with a drink/food but since managing to do controlled crying last week I thought that I would put her to bed during the day for her sleep also (rather than in the car or prompted by food etc.)

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Who cares if she's sleeping through? If it's not broke, don't fix it.

[jealous emotion]

Since twelve months my DD2 (now 18 months) has had a sleep straight after lunch, for anything between 1 and 2.5 hours (varies from day to day).

Personally I'd just count your blessings and stop worrying.

my dc's would sleep for at least 2 hrs if not 3 at that age,but all kids are different

average 1-2hrs I'd say

My two good sleepers would sleep for about 45m in the morning, say from around 9ish, and then for 2-2.5h in the afternoon, anywhen between 12.30 and 3.30ish. As well as sleeping 12h or so at night. Even my bad sleeper was still napping in the morning at 12m, and again in the afternoon. But he most certainly wasn't sleeping 12h at night! They all gave up their morning nap around 15m, taking 2-3m to really outgrow it.

Yep, thanks for your advice, i'll just let her do what she does best and suit herself I think.

I've had good sleepers and crap sleepers. I currently have one who sleeps through but only naps during the day if he falls asleep in the car.

There are no rules I'm afraid
