Side car cot thing - any recommendations?

I think I may need one as I can't face getting out of bed but I'm not a natural co-sleeper, and shes outgrowing the moses basket. And I think she'll be in with us for longer than 6 mths unless she magically starts sleeping through! What have people used and liked? TIA

We use a travel cot. DD has been in it since 11 weeks and has no intention of moving at 8 months. You'll probably need one anyway and they don't take up as much room in the bedroom as a full sized one. Ours has a basinette and I probably won't bother with a Moses basket at all next time. Straight into the travel cot.

I got a coscatto one off ebay, was best £100 I've ever spent, one side goes all the way underneath, so you can cosleep at night and put the side up during the day. You do need quite a bit of space next to your bed as you need room to put the side up.A friend with less room managed to find a cot with a side that went over the top rather than underneath, but she says that she couldn't find any new, had to ebay.

Thanks for that. Does the travel cot one have a removable side? I need something where I can roll the baby off me into the cot, so we don't have to get up to feed, but I get my bed space back!
The coscatto one looks ideal but I'm wincing a bit at the money! Will have to work on DP.

try ebay, then you only have to get new matress, we got ours for £100 and will sell it when we're done, what price a good nights sleep? we also have the travel cot an the sides don't move

We've got the Mothercare bedside cot. It's expensive at £180 but I'm sure there will be secondhand ones around, or maybe just leave one side off a normal cot. I've never had the need to put the side up and down during the day. Also make sure the cot mattress is very slightly lower than your mattress, especially if you've got a wiggler like mine, and make sure your duvet doesn't flap over the cot.

I'm convinced it's the main reason ds has slept right through the night from a couple of weeks old. Night feeds, nappy changes etc are so much easier (so was checking his breathing after I made the mistake of watching a programme about cot death).

Oh, and grobags are best for this sleeping arrangement, as baby's head can be up close to yours (no feet to foot business).

I can't recommend this enough. Ds and I go to sleep holding hands most nights - how cute is that!!!

Good point Marla - I forgot I had to roll a cot duvet into a sausage and wedge it down the side of the mattress to fill the gap.

The principle is good, but yes, just leaving the side off a normal cot would be just as good.

Oh, on the basis of that I might think about whether my old cot would wedge up against our bed. I can't remember how old it is. This is all very helpful, thanks.
