Whats the "normal" range of sleep length at night for 2.5 yr olds?
I think mine maybe at the top end with 14 hours, but he doesn't have a day time nap which may contribute.
your thoughts?
and No I'm not a troll, just havn;t come across many dedicated sleepers among friends children so not sure whats normall.

my dd usually sleeps 12 hours at night and has a nap most days of between 1-2 hours, she is 24 months, so a very similar amount to your dc! although she has recently started missing some daytime naps, but on those nights usually sleeps for more than 12 hours!

DD averages about 12 (sometimes 11, sometimes 13) hours at night and two hours during the day. She is 27 months.

to you all. DS sleeps 10 hours in the 24 and has since just before 2. I think it's too little but am unable to extend it.

14 hours sounds fine BTW

My 21 month old sleeps for 11 hours at night and 2-3 during the day.

I've tried reducing his daytime nap but he just screams for ages then goes to sleep on the sofa or floor. He's a really live wire so I guess he just needs a lot of sleep to keep going.

My 2.1 year old sleeps about 11 hours solid at night and has a 90-minute nap after lunch (he would sleep longer in the day if I let him but I do wake him up at 2.30).

So I would say your Ds is completely normal. Some adults need more sleep than others (like me!) so why shouldn't some children need more sleep than others?

LazyLinePainterJane · 29/08/2008 09:39

AT that age, DS slept 12 hours a night and up to a 3 hour nap in the day. A year later,he no longer has the daytime nap.

Was nice while it lasted. He just liked his sleep!

ds slept for 14 hours (sleep + nap) up to turning 4.

RiversC · 29/08/2008 19:23

11 hours solid at night and 30 mins in day x 25 months

JolieGirl · 29/08/2008 19:28

12 hours at night, 2 during the day

Thank you. sounds like hes in normal range just doing all his sleep in one block rather than night + nap. Guess it might be different if I had to get an older child to school or him to day care at set times.
I'll enjoy the quiet mornings while they last.
