Side and front sleeping - turning back onto back

DD is now putting herself onto her side in her cot to get herself to sleep. We go in there when she had nodded off and turn her back onto her back. She doesn't move much when she is asleep, so we don't keep going back in.

Now.. when did you stop turning your DC back onto her/his back and what made you decide to stop?

I think when they can turn themselves over you are onto a lost cause and are best off letting them sleep how they want. DD always found on her front now.

if they are over 6 months it is ok for them to find their own sleep position. If they are under 6 months and you find them on their side/tummy then move them onto their back but dont feel you have to keep checking on them.

thats the official advice from the SIDS website btw.

thanks. she's almost 6 months. i think that i might start leaving her to it for the daytime naps but keep a close eye and then take it from there.
