anyone else put their babes outside for daytime naps?

dd2, 16 months has never slept in her cot in the daytime. After lunch I wrap her up really well, put her in her buggy, walk round the garden a few times and she's asleep - leave her outside the backdoor with the cover down on the buggy and she'll sleep for an hour normally.
Sometimes I feel cruel for leaving her outside in all weathers while dd1 and I are snug inside, but she sleeps well and we don't have to be quiet.
Does anyone else do this?

i did in the summer - havent in the winter but she falls asleep when we are out for a walk, bring the pram in and she stays in the pram wrapped up in the kitchen while i potter about the rest of the house.

it is a very old-style thing to do .. my mother's generation did it .. but if it works for you .. do it

I did it all summer long - I did try it one sunny autumn day - but he woke after 30 mins so must have been cold. But now ds doesn't fall asleep in pram - too busy looking around.

Yes, all mine have slept outside some rain or shine. My friends in Sweden leave their babies outside also in sub-zero temperatures and they are absolutely fine. Fresh air is healthy!

My Mum has just been visiting and she said her generation used to do that all the time. Apparently me and my brothers would love looking at the branches waving in the wind! I'm going to put my DS out when the weather is a little better!

We're lucky to have a very private front garden. If I have a baby sleeping in a pram, he gets left out, with an open window or monitor so I hear him when he wakes. Often, though, I look out to see him happily watching the sky,

My mother always used to go on about how this was the norm when she was child rearing and when she was a baby herself. I have been known to leave the baby out for a while if he/she was asleep but found they didn't stay too long awake before crying. But if you can put them under a tree whilst awake, they love looking at the patterns of the leaves and light.

I think it is a great idea as it gives them fresh air and might allow you to do something a bit noisey in the house without disturbing them.

will do it when weather is a bit warmer. mind u if the others are playing outside then idont see why not.

I used to leave my son outside if I came home and he was still asleep in his pushchair and I didn't want to take him out of his snow suit and I was paranoid about leaving him in it in a warm room inside. They do it a lot in Norway too.

If we have been for a walk and she's fallen asleep in the pushchair, I will leave her outside the back door all tucked up and cosy. She wakes up as soon as you bring her indoors, probably because of the central heating.
Fresh air is much better than a stuffy house.

I always did it with all three of mine and would do the same now with GS, but the nearest I get is when he's asleep in the buggy after our walk home from town - then I leave him in the back yard - sometimes sleps for up to 2 1/2 hours in the fresh air, he loves it.

I did it with both of mine - my Mum suggested it so I dismissed it immediately then, another friend she did it, so i though it was a good idea!
More so with DS1 who was born in January - by the time Spring appeared - quick walk to shop to buy me a paper then leave him in the back garden. As long as they're wrapped up warm, I think it's really good for them! (turning into my mother )
