Napping in new places?

My 8 month old daughter will sleep in her pram (if given a long enough walk) the car (on long enough journeys) and in her cot at home. Sometimes she has a bit of a cry in the cot, but she's getting quite good at going down after a few minutes.

She will not sleep in the travel cot at my parents' house. Which is a bit of a problem as she'll be there three days a week when I go back to work. She'll also be at a childminder one day a week.

Does any one have experience of getting a child of this age to sleep in new places? We're also going on holiday in a couple of weeks and I fear we'll have the same problem then.

I've tried to keep the routine the same - same grobag, same time (roughly). She doesn't have a comforter or particular toy. Perhaps that would help?

Your thoughts and experiences on this one would be very welcome!

when my mum looked after dd when I went back to work when she just turned 1, dd went to sleep in the buggy for naps - she did normally have to go a short (or sometimes a long one if she resisted sleep!) walk with her and then parked her inside or out, depending on the weather. When she was at home she slept in her cot as normal. They soon learn that different places have different 'rules' so could always sleep in the buggy at your parents and the cot when in her own house. It's either that or you persevere with trying to get her to go in the travel cot.
