Moving from cot - junior bed or straight to single bed which is best?

I am currently decorating dd's new bedroom which she will hopefully move into before 2nd dc is born, she was 2 in June but loves her cot so havent rushed to move her out of it just yet!

I'm not sure which to buy a junior bed or a standard single bed, they look very big compared to her cot but is a junior bed a waste of money as assume they dont last very long?

Would welcome any advice or experience of which you chose for your dc!

DD ( 2 in March) in cot at home but on Mnetters advice as at grandparents for 2 months we ent cold turkey into single bed with a bed guard. 1st few nights I slept in room with her ( OTT panic) No problems at all . She still has her grobag for nights and after 1 month we have done naps in 'covers'. So far she has only got out of bed twice. On our return home we have brought forward order of new bedroom so she can have a single bed asap.

with DS1
we went straight for a single bed. It worked well for us.
with DS2
we are going to move him into a single bed next week.

We went straight to single bed with bed guard with no problems. She did look tiny in it but loves her big girl bed.

I've never bought a Junior bed,always put them straight into a Single bed,with a cotside.

However,as a normal bed is 2ft 6 I think,they would have to be 4ft plus to be too big for a junior bed,so it will be some time before it would be too small for them.

Single bed if you've got the space. We went for toddler exrendable IKEA bed as DS's room is very small and will have to fit DD in as well before too long, but given the space I'd have got a single or even a double (less likely to fall out, plus useful if you need to fit in extra houseguests occasionally).

Thanks everyone, looks like straight to a single bed with bedguard is the best option as there is enough room for one. Will start looking for one now!

I would also recommend not buying an expensive mattress - dd1 has thrown up/weed on hers so many times now that I'm going to wait til she's fully toilet trained then chuck it and buy a new one.
