How much daytime sleep did yours need at this age? I remember only letting ds1 have an hour after a very early lunch at this age,but ds2 is very tired and would sleep for much longer, but I still need him to go to bed at 7 with ds1, who is exhausted after a day at school. We are finding ds2 does not settle as quickly at bedtime as at naptime and hence are wondering if he is overtired or just not tired after 11/2 hours sleep at lunchtime. Any advice?

If we're at home my 16 month old has 1.5-2.5 hrs sleep during the day, it can be morning or afternoon.

If we'er out he'll have as little as 20 minutes all day.

He settles the same on 20 minutes as 2.5 hrs.

Blimey, could that be any less useful for you. Sorry.

Here anything from half an hour to two hours.
Bed time, if over tired trouble getting to sleep.
Dinner time is the time he nods off now, or it is likely he will sleep in the car too if it is used that day! Two kips.
Which again means late night.

Mine had one hour only, he would naturally wake up after an hour. He is 19months now and has 1-1.5 in the day now.
I was told on here though about 2 weeks ago that 1.5 was too long in the day and that i'd be better waking him after 20mins or so. He is a complete devil for the rest of the day if i do this so i let him have as long as he needs.

why not try one day to leave him to sleep and wake when he wants to and see what happens.
Is he happy and awake until bedtime - or does he struggle?
have a look at www.babywhisperer.com - they have suggested nap times/sleep times for different ages.

DS now 16mths wakes up at 7.30am, gurgles until I get him up at 8am. I put him to bed at 1pm after lunch and get him up at 2.30/3pm depending on when he went to sleep. He needs 1 and a half hours. He then goes to bed at 8pm.

Thanks TraceyK I'll look at that website. I think if i left him to sleep in the day he would take hours to go to sleep at bedtime.

could you bring his lunch forward a bit and give him an earlier nap and let him sleep till he wakes. If it takes ages that night - you can always not do it that way the next day. you never know - it may work.
