I anticipate that a lot of people will say that 8 months old is a really tricky age for sleep with so much development and learning new skills but just wondered if I am missing something obvious. My LO is generally awake for 11.5 hours total (sometimes 12) which I think is quite a lot for his age but he’s still waking up several times a night and doesn’t ever do a long stretch of sleep. The sleep has been a bit sketchy for a few months but has now become really bad in the last six weeks.
He wakes about 7am and goes to bed at about 8/8:30 and can happily stay awake for 5 hours before bedtime. He usually naps about 10am and 3pm for anywhere between 35-1:15. I’ve tried pushing him to stay awake as long as possible because in the past this really helped reduce night wakings but it feels a bit much trying to put him to bed at 9pm or later. I’ve also tried capping naps but it made him very cranky so I didn’t stick at it for long.
I guess I’m just wondering if I’m missing something obvious?
