Hello, does anyone have any advice on ways to teach a 6 month old self settling techniques he’s currently being rocked to sleep and waking a lot. Also he has a sensitive temperament.

Have you tried a dummy?

Yes, he’s always had a dummy but I don’t think it really works tbh even when he wakes up crying a lot the dummy the won’t calm him

I think the only way to start doing this is to pick a week and commit to eg putting him in his cot drowsy but awake, staying by the side of him to stroke his face etc and comfort him that way whilst he’s in his cot instead of being rocked. There will be tears as he adjusts and it will take time and patience but this is how you’d break the rocking habit and teach him the skill of falling asleep in his cot
