7 month sleeping so bad

Baby boy is 7 months old, his sleep has always been pretty bad, but the last few weeks since we moved him to his own room have been terrible. He wakes hourly, sometimes not going back down for hours. His naps in the day are totally on his terms, it seems like he gets a burst of energy anytime someone mentions sleep!
Bath time riles him up - not relaxing for him at all, too much splashing to do. Reading is also way too exciting and he needs to eat or lick the book. Doesn’t have intentional screen time.
I’ve tried consistent routines, stopped feeding to sleep, no naps after 4 and bedtime at 7. Does anyone have any advice? I’ve tried to be chill about it but that also didn’t work so happy to try whatever- except crying it out!

I don't have lots of advice, but I have so much empathy. Both of mine had bad sleep regressions from 6 months (for a couple of months!) and it was awful. Could it be a regression he is having? Read up on it if you haven't heard of them. Also, he could be starting to teethe which will impact sleep. I found the first tooth or two seemed to take ages to cut through. Watch out for more dribbling, fists in mouth and a sore bottom which would all be signs of teeth cutting through (biting books could also be a sign). If in doubt I would give calpol on occasion for possible teething.

Do bath time another time of day if it is too stimulating. That age they don't need regular baths.
I'd try a much later bedtime given the frequent and long wakes. 7pm is very early for most babies. Would you consider cosleeping in a floor bed in his room? That made a big difference so the sleep we got.
