Could congestion be causing my 9 month old to breastfeed all night?

Hello, my 9 month old is not a great sleeper but the last few nights has just wanted to breastfeed all night long. On Saturday into Sunday she did a 3 hour stint! She would stop and I’d try to take it away or lie her down and she’d be right back on. I think she has a little congestion, does anyone know if this might be related and if there’s anything to help it? I’m completely touched out and sleep deprived!

When my baby wants to breastfeed all night or for long periods it’s usually a sleep pressure issue or illness (or both). If they don’t have enough sleep pressure then they might not be tired enough to sleep alone, but being latched on is so comforting for them that they can sleep like that despite not being that tired. Has she had more day sleep or an earlier bedtime recently? Maybe she just needs less sleep than she used to. I wouldn’t expect a bit of congestion to have such an impact but also babies are weird and sometimes small things can throw off their sleep while they breeze past other bigger things.
