5month old- terrible sleeper

he just cries and kicks out when I try putting him to sleep, it takes 1.5 hours. He’s squealing and crying and throwing his head back. My back is gone, I’m crying. Why won’t he just sleep easily? I watch carefully for wake windows, sleepy signs like rubbing eyes and yawning. Nothing makes a difference. He just struggles to fall asleep without me holding him and rocking him for ages. ADVICE? Because it’s ruining my life, health, relationship, mental health

It is so hard when you’re in the sleep trenches. I’d smugly thought my now 8month old was a dream self soother (compared to my first) but even she got to a point of not doing it an requiring more and more settling which I’m trying to pull back on now and she’s instantly started sleeping longer stretches.

from my experience it only gets better when they learn to self settle to sleep and it sounds like you’re he’s struggling with that. Hopefully someone will be along to give some advice soon.

When my first was born a friend shared a baby sleep guide ebook with me- happy to send it to you if you would like?

I’d really appreciate that, how can I share my email or however you can send it. How do babies self soothe? He has learnt to suck his thumb a bit
