Nearly 3 year old shouting out at night with eyes closed

I have a little boy that will be 3 in july
The last 2 weeks he has been shouting out during the night. He is calling for me or asking for a hug but his eyes are still closed. This happens atleast 5 times a night between 10-2 generally. I dont go into him unless he stands up and starts to cry. He does go quiet but only for 30mins or so if im lucky.
Any ideas what it could be or tips.

Sounds similar to a phase DS went through at a similar age, nightmares maybe? He didn't seem to remember in the morning. We used to just reassure him it was just a bad dream and get him to settle down again. Tended to be once a night though. Just stopped happening after a while.

Sounds like night terrors. My DC had them when overtired around that age.

He does have night terrors but he screams hysterically and his eyes open. These sound different
