He’s never slept well. I rock him standing up, he’s clearly sleepy but cries and throws his head back and wriggles. I try push him in the push chair and he cries constantly and doesn’t fall asleep. I end up finally shattered at 11 on when he finally falls asleep. His day time naps are like 20-30 minutes and it takes ages to get him to settle. I’m struggling with back pain. Any advice ?

I’m so sorry. No real advice unfortunately, I had a baby who was a terrible sleeper too and it’s so, so tough. I would spend so much time online and on here trying to find a “solution”. What she needed was time; all of a sudden she just started sleeping better at around 9/10 months, and she sleeps mostly through the night 11 hours now, and she’ll go down for naps easily too. It’s crazy she’s the same baby now when I think of it. Sending you lots of sympathy because I know thinking of it being bad for months doesn’t really help at the moment, but he will most likely sleep eventually. In the meantime, take ANY help that you are offered by family and get your partner to do as much as they can xx

Too young for sleep training where you leave the room. What about using the carrier for naps, I found that so much easier than holding in my arms. Same as PP, mine was awful at 4 months but has gradually got better, and we've never done any sleep training. She's 18 months now and generally sleeps through. Hang in there, it will get better!
