6 month old sleeping

I am very much going with the flow with my 6 month old but am I doing anything “wrong”? His day naps are reducing but sometimes he sleeps til 8pm in the evening, then wakes up again for a bit ready for a later bedtime with me. I am blessed that he also sleeps very well in the night and wakes up around 8am. Should I stop him sleeping late in the day and do a proper bedtime at 8 so I get time to myself or just stick with keeping him up with me. Sometimes it’s hard to get him down around midnight. Thank you!

of course it’s personal and totally up to you, but 6 months is a good age for a routine. My 6 month old would nap 9-10 12-2 and 4-430 and then go to bed just before 7 sleeping through til 7.
i am a very routiney person but I wanted to know when he’d sleep for my sanity and plans.
it worked well. At about 9/10 months he dropped the 4 o’clock nap and I moved his midday nap slightly later, then went down to just the midday nap at about 14 months. That’s now about 1230-230, still bed 7-7 ish.

It's completely up to you! You can't get it 'wrong' it's only what works / doesn't work for you and the baby. if you prefer the later bedtime so you get a long block of sleep then no need to change. You might find as he gets towards 1, he needs a much more distinct period of being awake before bed (for example from 3/4pm until 7/8pm) but you can just adjust as you see this happen. I assume you might also need an earlier wake time if you're going back to work at some point, so then you'd want to do an earlier bedtime.
